Why We Do We Love Bedside Cot 6 Months Plus (And You Should Too!)

Bedside Cot 6 Months Plus

Bedside sleepers allow you to keep your baby close to you without the risk of sharing beds, which comes with a higher chance of suffocation. They're an excellent choice for infants.

Models with adjustable height positions can be placed perfectly on all bed frames. Also look for breathable fabrics that are easy to clean.

Safety

A bedside cot can be described as an upholstered bassinet that is attached to the bed's side to ensure secure co-sleeping. You can use it to lift baby up towards you at night to feed or soothing. it's also a great option for a C-section. It is different from a Moses Basket or Cot in that it has walls that are high so your baby won't be pushed out. Some models have a tilt feature that can help babies with colic or reflux. They are also slightly larger than Moses baskets, making them easier to move from room to room.

The NHS and The Lullaby Trust, a safe sleep charity, suggest that babies be placed in a bassinet or cot that is in the same room with their parents. They should not be in your bed. Sharing a bed increases the risk of suffocation or overheating. Bedside cribs allow your child to sleep with you, but in a safe and private space.

When choosing a bedside crib make sure it is in compliance with the latest safety standards (it must be BS EN 1130:2019) and has no gaps or parts that could cause your child to get trapped. Choose a mattress that has a firm, flat surface. A mattress that is too sagging or that is too soft may increase the risk of SIDS for your baby.

Make sure your bedding is fitted and without pillows or blankets that are sloppy. Duvets and pillows could suffocate your baby, while pillows can get stuck to their face. It is a good idea to use a fitted sheet instead however, make sure it's sized correctly.

The SnuzPod4 was rated highly by our MFM mum testers as a crib for use at bedtime. It has been shortlisted for the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards in the category of the Best Cot, Moses Basket or Crib. It is attached securely to the bed, and can be adjusted to ensure an ideal fit. It also has a rocking feature and can be set to an incline for reflux. It's a good choice for those with small or narrow beds since it does not take up much space.

Design

The design of a bedside crib is important because it will be the area where your baby will spend most of their time. A lot of cribs are available with a variety of colors to match your decor and feature features such as mesh windows that keep your baby in view, or side panels that drop down that make it easier to reach. Some cribs come with incline features to aid with reflux.

The majority of cribs can be adjusted to match the height of your bed, making it simple to get out and in to the bed at time of night. Some cribs can also be used as travel cots. This is a great option when you travel or visiting relatives.

Leya, a MFM mum and home tester, discovered that the SnuzPod 4 was a great choice for her bedroom. She also loved its compact fold which saved space. She also liked the fact that one side of the crib can be raised, letting her pick up her baby without having to get out of bed. This is especially beneficial in the event that you've had a C-section or recovering from a Caesarean which means you can sleep near your newborn for longer.

Jasmine is another mom who liked using the SnuzPod 4. She said it was simple for her to move the crib from one room to another and back again - something she didn't find with other bedside cribs. However, she did note that it took some effort to lift and lower the crib, because the handle was rigid.

Another bedside crib that's simple to fold and move is the Tutti Bambini CoZee Air, which was shortlisted in the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards as the best Cot Crib, Moses Basket. Its slim frame and neutral colour options will fit in with most bedrooms, although some of our home testers thought the bars were too close together, which means they could get caught on clothing or toys for babies. The distance between the bars should be no more than 6.5cm (2.5 inches) to ensure your baby's head isn't entangled. This crib is also ideal for babies suffering from reflux due to the ComfortAir air-flow system helps regulate their body temperature.

bedside cot newborn  amazed by the amount of features on this crib, especially the ComfortAir mattress, which is breathable and works to regulate your baby's temperature and maximize airflow. It's a little smaller than some other cribs that are bedside which can be useful where space is limited. Our mom testers agree that this is a great choice for those long, sleepless nights.

The cot securely attaches to the bed's side with adjustable straps, which reduces the risk of gaps that your child may get caught. It also comes with a sturdy, flat mattress that meets safety standards and promotes safe sleep habits.

One thing to keep in mind is that your baby may start to climb out of the crib when they're able to sit up, usually around six months. This is why it's important to put them in a cot or another sleeping arrangement when they've outgrown the crib.

Another feature to think about is how light the cot is and whether it's suitable for travel. Some of our mothers love that this crib can easily be disassembled for transport however, others aren't able to put it together. It can be a challenge to clean so you will have to wipe it clean frequently using a cleaning product and a cloth.
